Artist Statement
I think its pointless to try to define or categorize the style of ones work. As soon as you attempt to give a name to something, the thing you’re trying to label becomes absent and gets lost in the world of the dialectic. The majority of my work consists of the idea of being human in an unintelligible world and the struggle to create meaning. The figures and subject matter in my work represent the multitude of emotion, memory and capabilities of an individual in a single moment through the use of color, texture, and material. My preferred medium is oil or acrylic on canvas or paper. I wish for individuals to view my work as though looking into a mirror, to ask oneself how we humans treat one another, and how we should be living. My hope is that by asking these questions, we can change the way society views its fellow man, and move to better understand the otherness of the other.
